How to test your Wi-Fi QR code

Create the code and scan it with another device before printing. Connection support depends on the operating system, security type, and whether the network name and password are correct.

  • Choose the correct WPA, WEP, or open-network setting.
  • Keep strong contrast and clear space around the code.
  • Never publish a QR code containing a private network password.

Share network access without retyping credentials

A Wi-Fi QR code contains the network name, security type, password, and hidden-network setting. QRpilot escapes reserved characters and checks the encoded SSID length before creating the image, but the receiving device decides whether it can join.

What the code contains

The standard WIFI text payload stores WPA, WEP, or open-network settings. It does not contact the router, test the password, or configure the access point.

Use a guest network

A printed QR reveals its encoded password to anyone who can scan it. For public areas, create an isolated guest network and rotate its credentials when access should change.

Test real devices

Forget the saved network before testing, scan from the final printed artwork, and verify both the connected SSID and internet access on iPhone and Android.

Does the QR code send my password to QRpilot?

No. The browser creates the payload and image locally. Your network name and password are not submitted to a QRpilot server.

Does one setting work for WPA2 and WPA3?

Many devices use the WPA value for WPA/WPA2 and WPA3 transition networks, but support varies. Test the code with the exact router security mode and devices your guests use.

Why does a valid code fail to connect?

Common causes include a wrong password, mismatched security type, an enterprise login flow, a hidden network, or scanner behavior that differs by operating system.
